Four NBS-orchestras The Finnish Baroque Orchestra (FiBO), Barokkanerne, Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble (DBE) and Concerto Copenhagen (CoCo) as well as their current partner Floridante that have done pioneering work and have taken on an important role in the development of a baroque music scene in their country are coming together to become even stronger. They are united by their love of music, their desire to explore new paths and their curiosity about other perspectives and interpretations.
The idea of the NBS project came to light in 2019 after a successful collaboration between the Nordic baroque orchestras led by FiBO, where hundreds of children joined the professional musicians for Viking Barokk. The ensembles enjoyed the opportunity to work together and later met to explore the possibilities which a formalized collaboration could entail. The prospect of developing the field of early music, the need of expanding funding possibilities and the synergy potential in exchanging ideas, experience and expertise led to the foundation of a collaborative platform.
Today, the cooperation within the network is an important part of the ensembles’ everyday concert life. They visit each other’s concert series and festivals, play works together and carry out bigger joint projects like the baroque singing competition Aria borealis. They not only cooperate in the artistic sense but also join forces in administrative tasks and in jointly applying for funding in order to use all resources sustainably and effectively.

They are united by their love of music, their desire to explore new paths and their curiosity about other perspectives and interpretations. This is how they began to work together, first in individual projects and finally in the Nordic Baroque Scene.
